About Us

Precision Auto Center was founded in 2006. Pat Hays a Ford Senior Master Technician founded and operated the business with Gary Grough a Ford factory engineering rep until Pats death in 2010. Pat's older brother Jim then came to Precision to continue operations and became the owner. Jim is also a Ford Senior Master technician with over 40 years of experience in the automotive and Aircraft industry. Jim started his career with Ford while attending college to become a Aeronautical engineer. After college he formed and operated Precision Aircraft where he focused on repair, flying and restoration of all types of aircraft including warbirds and antique rare aircraft. Jim moved back home to help family and went back to work at Ford where he became a shop foreman taking care of quality and production. Upon Pats death he moved to Reno to continue the operation of Precision Auto Center.

Jim has over 40+ years of experience in aviation & automotive repair, diagnostics, fabrication of all types including foreign and domestic cars, trucks and diesel repair and classic hot rod restoration & building as well as being Ford factory trained, hybrid and an ASE master tech. Jim is backed up by Laurie in the front office with many years of customer service including detailed scheduling and dealing with complex aftermarket insurance issues. Jim is also backed up in the shop by Luke who is also a certified technician with over 30 years experience in all types of foreign and domestic cars and trucks. At Precision it is our goal to help our customers maintain and keep their vehicles in the most safe and efficient way possible and enjoy building the bridges that make them feel like family not customers.
